The Roxbury Center for Financial Empowerment hosted a Bridge to Hospitality graduation on Friday, April 27, 2018. The Bridge to Hospitality is a workforce development program in which Boston residents receive basic skills training for four weeks, prior to enrolling in professional skills training with one of our partners, BEST, NECAT or the Kroc Center. Kelly Folsom of X-Cel Education is the much-valued instructor of the Bridge and spoke to the graduates about the importance of perseverance and collaboration. Two of the three graduates, Jessica Henderson and Ernest Pierre, addressed the attendees. In addition, Ernest received an MBTA pass for perfect attendance during the program and each graduate received a certificate signed by Mayor Walsh, a big proponent of workforce development and a long-time supporter of both the Roxbury Center and of BEST Hospitality Training. See graduation photos below!

The Bridge to Hospitality program is funded by the Social Innovation Fund via LISC Boston. Karleen Porcena is the Program Manager providing Technical Assistance on implementation. Other classes will take place later this year. For more information or to apply to a future cohort, please contact Sharon.Tulchinsky at boston.gov.
